Friend Birthday Party

I probably wouldn't have done a 'friend' party this early in life, but I have felt so badly about yanking Gracie away from all her cousins and aunts and uncles and grandparents and this girl needed a party!

We invited about 12 kids from our ward with their moms and had a little shin-dig at a park.  The kids loved playing and eating pizza.  Gracie got some fun presents and then they all ate the caterpillar cake.  My mom made me a cake like this when I was in kindergarten and I thought it would be cute and easy to do for her.  It was a hit!

Gracie turns 2!

Gracie woke up to a room full of balloons, she was so funny when she woke up, she just started collecting them all.  She would pick up one, drop one, pick up another, drop the next.

Jimi had to be in Port Angeles this day, so we thought it would be fun to tag along.  Gracie loves riding the ferry so what better way to start her birthday?  It was kinda chilly though, and this girl doesn't like to be cold.

Port Angeles turned out to be a bust.  We checked into our hotel room and within minutes checked right back out!  It was THAT bad.  So we made it home in time for dinner and Gracie's only request was "fresh fries".  I figured, why not?  It is only your birthday once a year so we ordered her a big basket of fries....she ate about seven.  She also ate plenty of the artichoke dip

Bipolar hair?

The only thing I could think of when Gracie woke up from her nap was that she must have had some crazy dreams because her hair looked seriously manic depressive!  One side was up and ready for a p.a.r.t.y. but the other side seemed so down and out.

Good thing her spirits matched the perky side!

So excited to help with the dishes.  =)

Halloween Recap

Matt and Tracy had an awesome party in their new house and because there were so many of us (about 25) they did it it in their huge garage.  They pulled out all the stops and had it decorated so cute!  Orange twinkle lights, spider webs, fog machines and scary tunes.  It was tons of fun!  Thanks guys!

My good friend lent Gracie this cute little bumble bee outfit and she was adorable in it!  She LOVED wearing it and spent a lot of time prior to the big day dressing up.  We had every intention of going trick-r-treating to a few houses but when the weather turned ugly we decided to just stay in and have Grace hand out the candy.  She loved everytime the doorbell rang but when it came down to actually giving the candy away, well, she wasn't sold on the idea.  She found a a three musketeers bar bag of m&m' that she just would not give up.

We turned out our lights around 7:30 when we ran out of candy.  We made dinner and Gracie finally got to eat a few of her m&ms.  She turned to a crazy woman!  I literally gave her only 6 m&ms and that was all it took.  For the next hour and half she ran all over our house, from one room to the next, leaving a very clear path of destruction!  It was crazy!  At one time she scooted down the stairs so quickly that Jimi thought she was going to have a carpet burn!  It was exhausting cleaning up after the little tornado but it was pretty funny to watch.

Monkey see, Monkey do.

Can you guess where my mom keeps her cell phone?

At thirteen months (this is about a month old), Grace has already become such a little mimick!  At first I couldn't figure out what she was doing and then I got it!   She had her play phone and she was putting it down her shirt just like mommy does.  I know that kids pick up on things we all do but I wasn't prepared for her to do it so soon.  I guess I am going to have to really watch what I say and do because I have a little monkey paying very close attention.  :)

Fashion Faux Pas

Gracie LOVES shoes and loves to get dressed sometimes several times a day, who knew this would happen so soon?!  I think I have created a monster!  At thirteen months, she will literally pull things out of her closet and follow me around until I put them on her.  She has all the right elements just maybe not all at once.  Let's hope I can tame this little diva before she grows up too fast.

Case in point, this was yesterday.

Even sometimes our best friends break our hearts a little

Ironically, just a day after I posted all the sweet pictures of Rox and Grace, this happened....can you se the yellowish goose egg on her forehead?  It was much worse a few days ago.

Like I previously stated, we have been spending a lot of time outside and Roxy just happened to be running at her full speed, which is fast, and when she tried to jump over Gracie and avoid a major collision, one occured anyway.  Roxy jumped and just about cleared her cute little sister, but not quite.  Her back legs hit Gracie causing her to fly through the air a little herself and land on her face on the driveway.  This was taken yesterday so the healing is coming along quite nicely.  The day after wasn't so pretty.  I am happy to report that Rox has repented and Grace has kindly forgiven and all is well in our home once again.

Just to clarify, Roxy really is usually very careful with kids, babies especially, but I guess she was just feeling the crisp autumn air and was excited and who can really blame her, ya know?
